Impact: Developed leading-edge technology to create a Windows CE based terminal to bid for and accept jobs from a taxi (courier etc) base station. I exceeded the Company's expectations of me by not only drawing from my computing knowledge but also applying my general electronics and electro-mechanical competencies.
The Company has delivered systems to 3 key customers and hardware manufacturer Startronics has taken a financial position in the company to increase production of this Australian product. The MDX has been nominated for an Australian technology innovation award.
Details: The MDX hardware and software allows PC-based development of applications, thereby reducing development costs and enhancing capabilities of the car-units. My role is to develop modules within the application, including graphics and Text-To-Speech. Unit functionality includes operation over the GSM cellular phone network (GPRS), integration with Webraska mapping applications (also used by www.whereis.com.au) and global satellite positioning systems (GPS). The system uses a three-tier architecture and messaging between layers. Other activities include the integration of hardware components, discussion of hardware and software strategy and tactics. I also have hardware skills demonstrated by building various hardware test harnesses, circuit design analysis. I took on the role of team leader for the MDX software development.
I also looked at performance issues and commenced redesigning the architecture to improve performance, without significantly increasing the risk of introducing new errors.
